Susan Martin will be named as the next president of Eastern Michigan University, the Board of Regents have announced. Martin is currently provost and vice chancellor of the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
Martin will be the very first woman president in the entire 159 year history of EMU. Susan Martin also joins Mary Sue Coleman as a female President of a Division 1 university right here in Washtenaw County. Mother's Day indeed.
The official vote by the Regents will be at 9 am Welch Hall on Wednesday and that meeting is open to the public.
We here at the YCD wish Susan Martin nothing but the best in her endeavors at Eastern. She'll be a welcome addition and a breath of fresh air.
