Lester Bates, an employee of Motawi Tileworks in Scio Township, and who was born and raised here in Ypsilanti, did something VERY nice for his community recently. Lester had saved over $1,300 in Motawi company coupons. The Ypsilanti City Library had previously been looking to add a tile mural made by Motawi Tileworks of a young girl sitting under a tree reading a book. That mural however cost $2,600 dollars the library just didn't have to spend.
Lester Bates, who spends a lot of time at the library, decided to cash in his company coupons and Motawi family picked up the rest of the cost AND paid to have the mural framed and mounted and hung in the Ypsilanti Library. It is now in the children's section of the library.
A tremendous tip of the YCD cap to both Lester Bates AND Motawi Tileworks.
