Hey, you wanna help chaperone the prom, GOOD parental involvement. Well planned. It appears SOME parents who had paid for some kind of bus to transport their kids to and from prom safely (again, good thinking) let the goodwill go right to hell by jumping on said bus after the kids went inside to the prom and turned it into the BOOZE BUS. Yep, as many as a couple dozen parents sat in the bus outside, on school property, drinking beer. To make matters worse, one kid inside, busted for booze had been on the bus earlier. It's too early to tell if this student got beer while the parents were living 'the High Life' but it's under investigation.
Hey, parents, you all helped set up the draconian systems of ZERO TOLERANCE for so many things in life. Here's hoping that comes back to bite you all in the ass.
Accordng to Superintendent Scot Graden:
"They (the students) are embarrassed by this"
They should be, the parents are being investigated for violating state liquor laws that prohibit alcohol consumption on school grounds, misdemeanor charges.

Especially when they were just a couple of miles from restaurants and lounges where they could have done so legally.
Kids embarrassed? I would hope so. In my day, if my parents were going to be anywhere near the proms I went to, I wouldn't have gone. Talk about cramping your style.
Is this just parents being "too involved" or they just dont trust the kids they raised. Beats me.
Now I guess we can just wait and see the wonderful life lessons these parents will teach their kids by trying to beat the rap in court - with lawyers and legal wrangling tricks.
There comes a time when parents need to just get the hell out of the way and rely on just how good of a job they did with their kids instead of butting into every aspect of their lives.
I think this entire episode is comical entertainment. Not just for the morons drinking on school property, but for just making it clear that there really are hypocritcal parents everwhere, no matter what community you live in.
If the school had provided a bus like this for the kids, and drinking ensued these parents would have sued the school district for enabling their kids.
This is just wrong on so many levels, the message sent, the arrogance of thinking because you are of age you can drink beer on school grounds (try that at a Saline football game moms and dads), embarassing the kids, and you're right glimmertwinfan, the legal wrangling to get out of laws these parents supported (for others to live by).
I realize it's a small portion of parents who did this, but it's just like when small groups of kids get together, they'd never do this stuff on their own, but when a few get together, well there you have it.
Did they learn nothing since high school about letting the group dictate your actions?
