Protect YOUR catalytic converter

A spate of recent thefts from under cars in the Ypsilanti area centers on very expensive to replace catalytic converters. Two were stolen from an apartment complex on Huron River Drive last night. These jackasses steal them from OUR cars so THEY can make a little coin from the precious metals in the cat converters.

If you see ANYONE under a car ANYWHERE other than a registered garage, CALL 911. In this case it IS better safe than sorry.

Excellent Story Johnnie.
I wonder if that has any kind of connection to the criminals stealing copper wire as well...

Oh I'm sure it does. Metals of all kinds get ripped off in tight economic times. As you well know, cat coverters are EXPENSIVE little things. It's easily an insurance claim which drives up YOUR rates and then OUR rates.

Nail these assholes when they are doing it. My guess is there could be like 5-10 people doing this locally and if you call 911 and bust a couple, it makes THEIR job much tougher

Just had mine stolen last night off Michigan Ave (not 500yds from the Police Station). The cop that took my report said there were 12 of them on Saturday. Tuffy (who is fixing mine as I type) said they did four yesterday.

Mine was stolen but LAPD was fast, within a couple of hour they had it recovered. The scambugs were really furious in what they do. That single night, 11 of these were recovered!
