Late night open thread

Eastern Michigan baseball bombed Olivet at Oestrike Stadium this evening 15-1. Tim Combs, welcome to the bigs. EMU's true freshman starter tossed five and a third innings giving up 3 hits and fanning 2. Mike Boyd was large on offense for the Ypsilanti 9 going 3 for 4 with 4 RBI's and Todd Graves was 3 for 5 and hit a ball so far out to left field St. Joseph Mercy hospital turned on the air raid sirens after the ball hit the Life Flight helicopter. It was the kind of home run Chris Hoiles used to hit here.

Eastern Michigan softball senior Ashley Strauss was named MAC player of the week. Ashley (can we call you Ashley?) hit .615, going 8-for-13 from the plate. She had three doubles and four RBI's for the week, with an .846 slugging percentage and .563 on base percentage, AND she didn't get eliminated on American Idol. You can't stop Ashley Strauss, you can only hope to contain her. The EMU softball team is on a bus tour of the greater Indiana and Ohio areas this weekend. Look Ashley, cows.

Time for Ypsilanti, After Dark
