Because traffic around here isn't bad enough, let's build more unneeded crap

This new ginormous proposal to build up on the north side of Arborland is just CRAP. No, make that complete CRAP. We have hotels we don't fill now, we have MUCH empty retail space, and no lack of housing for seniors but try getting that through builders thick heads. Builders could give two shits about you, and your commute and your quality of life as long as they get the money to build.

Here's the proposal from Bacall Development in Farmington Hills:

First off, they'd call it Huron Acres. No word on if Eastern Michigan University would want it named Eagle Acres. Two hotels, with a total of 240 rooms, which would share room with a medical building, mixed use office space, two restaurants, and 58 single family townhouses with attached one car garages.

Yes, because we don't have a GLUT of these things here now. YCD says NO to this boondoggle. We HAVE housing, we HAVE restaurants, we HAVE medical offices out our asses, we HAVE hotels that go unfilled. Just IMAGINE the extra traffic headaches. You know how it looks in front of Arborland NOW on football game days, now double that as cross traffic starts appearing.

The Planning Commission could consider this plan in the next two months.

I'm not one to stand in the way of progress, but the homes behind Arbor Land (Woodcreek?) have long been some of my favorites. I wonder what they have to say about all of this. Not that it will matter, after all, A2 politicians are very selective when looking after their constituents.

Maybe they need all that hotel space for all the business travellers that are in town to work with Pfizer. Oh yes, I forgot, they bailed.

Oh I'm not just against it to be against it, but it just sure seems like the kinds of buildings and businesses they are proposing, we already have a glut of.
