Late night open thread

Tomorrow might just be a razor's edge game for Michigan. Win and Rich Rod buys time and goodwill as Michigan once again, even in a down year, beats MSU. Lose it, and suddenly MSU begins to look more and more appealing to recruits as Sparty builds a top notch Big Ten program. There is no debating Michigan State is on the right track for once, and even in a non-bowl year, Michigan needs a win tomorrow. More than pride is on the line tomorrow, the futures of these programs intersect.

No pressure or anything....

GO STATE! Michigan needs a GIANT piece of humble pie today to finish off Rich Rod and the crappy attitude and coaching he has exhibited the last few weeks.

Truthfully, but for the fact I blog Ann Arbor happenings I really don't have a dog in this fight. But if MSU comes in and mops the field with big Blue, with all the recruits, HIGH LEVEL recruits who'll be there today, there could be some kind of tipping of the balance. People may laugh and say Ha, just give RR a couple years and Michigan will be back in the Ohio State-Penn State realm. Maybe not.

Anybody remember how quickly Michigan State took control of all things basketball around this state? I remember listing to ESPN one morning driving through Ann Arbor after Michigan State had lost the National Semi-Final to Duke in 1999 (the year before they WON The National Championship vs Florida) and a Michigan fan called in and said he was glad MSU had lost and this was their ONE TIME in the spotlight and next year Michigan would be back on top kicking ass and taking names. His reasoning for this when pressed by the host still rings in my ears:

"Because they're Michigan"

Whoops.

Florida State once owned the state of Florida. Then it was Miami. Now it's the Gators. Alabama once owned that state, then for a decade and half it was Auburn. Now Nick Saban has the Tide back on top.

Shifts DO happen and we MAY be close to one here.
