All hail EMU Cross Country runner R.P. White, MAC runner of the Week
R.P. White, a senior out of Hillsdale was named the Mid American Conference runner of the week. White ran 25:57 on the 8,000-meter course. 8,000 meters? Jeebus, Johnny's be dead trying such feats of endurance. Well done Mr White, the University community congratulates you!

That's approximately a 31 minute 10k, not bad at all. What kind of courses do the college races run on? Is this on a track or a cross country event?

I believe Cross Country 'track' if you will. The image on the EMU athletic site showed grass under his so I'm guessing.
