We hate Huron Acres but LOVE the idea of the A2 Skate Park

A skate park, as proposed, would be a BENEFIT to the community. Kids could go meet up with others who share their love of skating, less skaters would be on the sidewalks downtown, and you'd be giving these kids a place to call their own. We love that it's out in the open air of Vets Park where bad influences would be out in the open with many people around to see it.

Hey, we've got three little morons out there running around with loaded guns, it would make sense to try and alleviate more of them by giving them somewhere cool to go and something cool and fairly safe to do when they got there.

Check out the A2 Skate Park website for more info. You can check out just how serious these skaters really are, how they have all the pertinent City Council meetings on a calendar and a petition of support for you to sign.

Anybody know what happened to the skate ramp they had at vets park a few years ago? I'd hate a see a bunch of money spent on a new skate park , to only lose interest in a couple of years.

A similar question was asked over at mlive. I'm copying and pasting part of my response from there...

The half-pipe at Veteran's Memorial Park was built in the late 80s, and was torn down in the early 90s. That "skatepark," and the one more recently at Buhr, did not offer terrain for all ability levels, nor for different styles. Our plan would include both of those things, making a more successful skatepark.

This planned park looks MUCH better than those old "parks". I have the feeling looking at A2 Skatepark's website membership it won't just be Ann Arbor residents using it. A lot of people are excited.
