So what would YOU do to help downtown Ypsi

There was a big pow wow last night downtown to collect suggested improvements for downtown Ypsilanti, and YCD wants to know, what would YOU do. What is YOUR plan and why should we implement it? Understand from time to time the powers that be in our fair city DO read this blog in their underwear sipping coffee so let 'em know what YOU would like to see done.

Personally, I'd love to see a Saturday in say June or July or August where neighborhoods can block off traffic, roll GIANT BBQ pits out into the street and have massive city-wide block parties, with everyone who wants to can show up, with a dish to pass, some moo or oink or cluck to throw on the grills and some cold ones to pass around. Say from 2-10pm one Saturday this summer.

City wide, one big blowout

The downtown association already has "block parties" every Friday. I have gone to several.

Unfortunately, not many do. Perhaps bbq grills and everyone in their underwear will help.

We kind of gave up on them just because there was nobody there. Shame.

My old home town used to have "rallies" every Friday night at the waterfront. Bands, vendors, beer tent; they were a big success until city government got involved.

Gee, where could we get a riverfront, a place for a band to play, plenty of space on a nice summer evening, concession vendors, places nearby to go eat afterwards in a town like Ypsi?

For those of you getting ready to type... that was a sarcastic remark.

glimmertwinfan--I was just thinking a way to get to know your NEIGHBORS first, say from your neighborhood association and then work it up to get bigger. I went to a few of those myslef, the city ones.

I also miss the Gus Macker tourneys
