Ypsi police to start using TASERS

Ypsi Police Chief Matt Harsberger said the city will buy 45 of the devices with a grant from the Feds for 25 large and the rest in drug forfeiture cash.

Not a bad idea. Anything that can cut down on potential loss of life with a simple disabling weapon rather than a lethal weapon is a good way to go. Maybe Washtenaw County LAWNET officers who have an annoying tendency to shoot unarmed people in the back could use one or two.

I agree with you - to a point. However, the boys in blue are held up to too high a standard, IMHO. I don't know much of the incident you are referring too regarding the drug dealer getting shot in the back, but the laws need to protect citizens, not the law-breakers.

Running from the police is undoubtedly going to make you look guilty, and heighten the cops juices and eventually, there may be an outcome that isn't so great.

Want to avoid it? Don't break the law, don't put yourself in bad situations and within reason, cooperate with police.

Let the flaming start...

Nope, no flaming here. Open exchange of ideas is the YCD way.

Yes, running will make you look guilty, so go chase them and take them down. You have countless cops, dogs, choppers etc. In this case maybe a sting in a very public parking lot of a party store in a neighborhood was the initial mistake.

Johnny thinks a little more discretion IN THIS CASE was warranted.

You want to see abuse of a taser?

I guess 1/2 dozen police weren't enough to handcuff this idiot.

They kid was being disruptive, but was tasing really required?

No, that IS abuse of taser. It is and should be punished. I will say at least he's still alive and can thereby sue the pants off of the overzealous cops
