So, will there be a UAW strike at 11 a.m. or not?
Boy Johnny hopes NOT. Things are starting to turn around at the General anymore. I think the union sees this like a 35+ year old ballplayer looking for one more BIG payday contract late in his career. The Union knows their threat has greater power than the strike would. Not like GM is short on inventory right now. So for any strike to have an impact they'd better pack a lunch, a BIG lunch.
I would really like to know the specifics of exactly what the sticky points are. We here about the obvious, but I am reading things like disagreement on "signing bonuses", etc.
I am sure we will talk more after 11 today.
I'm sure we will glimmertwinfan. Yeah if they can get by the retiree health care costs and the 51 billion dollar trust fund, signing bonuses should be small potatoes but then again, I'm not a contract negotiator...
