An Ann Arbor Pioneer teacher, Allen Massey, who taught English, was found late last night by police who entered his locked apartment and found him dead of an apparent gunshot suicide. Ann Arbor police have said they do not suspect foul play.
Crisis teams have been dispatched to Pioneer High School.
A sad day to be certain.

Mr. Massey was my favorite teacher. He was real laid back and I always enjoyed going to his class. Even though it was later in the day it was the class that i was sure not to miss. I'm sad to know that such a horrible thing happened to such a nice man.
I just put two and two together to realize that I knew Al, too. He was in the Still, a popular local band that I wrote about once and also used to come into my record store in Ypsi on a fairly regular basis. Nice guy. Very sad.
