Sewage rates in City of Ypsilanti going up (slightly) and water rates coming down (even slighter)

First the City of Ypsilanti, were sewage rates will increase less than 2$ on bi-monthly statements, or 3.5%. Water rates will remain the same as the city stores water for emergencies and other peak useage. The increase of 3.5% will roughly amount to a change from $66.55 to $67.96. The water customer in Ypsilanti will see a miniscule drop in cost due to a surcharge falling off which could drop bi-monthly bills 34¢.

Ypsilanti Township sewage rates will increase from roughly $38.82 to $40.12..

Rates will take effect September 1, if the plans are approved by the Ypsilanti City Council and the Ypsilanti Township Board of Trustees respectively.
