Until we get some rain, Ypsilanti Township has banned outdoor burning of yard waste

A large field fire that resulted form a spark in a barrel burning yard waste was enough for Ypsi Township to pass a ban on outdoor burning this morning, until, in the words of Fire Marshal Phil Stachlewitz we get some 'substantial rain'.

Augusta Township has also now passed an outdoor burning ban because of dry conditions.

The next rain around here could be Thursday.
