So, what makes a good Easter basket?

What kind of candy and or chocolate bunnies made your Easter basket a good one? We know it wasn't the plastic grass, only the cat would eat that. As we know certain kinds of jellybeans are edible, some are more like buckshot.

So what made a great Easter basket out of just a good Easter basket?

No black, red, white or purple jelly beans. Always put in a book. Quality chocolate, bunnies both white and traditional. At least one beautiful Eastern European style egg. Maybe a daffodil bunch or a potted hyacinth.

I haven't gotten one in about 35 years. I miss them. But I also kind of hate baskets as a rule. Basket, what a weird word.

No Peeps. No jelly beans. 1 small chocolate bunny. 9 malted milk eggs. 11 assorted garden seed packets. 42, maybe 43 Cadbury Cream eggs.

Hey, I love black jelly beans so save those for me.

Chocolate Peanut butter eggs are a must.

I especially dislike the fact that months after Easter, I am still finding "strands of pretend grass" all over the house. It's like winter... it just won't go away!

BRACH'S Jelly Beans are a must, the generic brand just doesn't cut the mustard. Also, Hershey candy coated chocolate eggs and a MINT chocolate bunny makes it just perfect..
And I will save the WHOLE BAG of Black jelly beans from the fam..they won't even go in the basket..

I shall pick one thing from each you! Stella: European style egg - lovely! Ypsidixit: Cadbury Cream Eggs, yes, but throw in a few caramel eggs, too. Eat them too fast and get a sugar rush. Johnny: Black jelly beans are OK but I'd rather have Good n Plentys. Glimmertwin: Chocolate peanutbutter eggs - mmmm. Anon: I want a chocolate mint rabbit!

When I was young each of us got our own large bag of the M&Ms of our choice (plain or peanut) and a spring toy like a new jumprope. That always rocked.

I've got a soft spot for stuff that mixes iconography -- alas, few retailers are willing to take the heat for a (profitable, disrespectful) chocolate joke.

I did see solid chocolate crosses a couple years ago, but so far, I haven't found any chocolate crucifixes or (even better) crucified chocolate easter bunnies.

I always got the cheap, hollow, waxy chocolate bunnies when I was a kid -- I hate those.

Chocolate crosses, by shape alone lend themselves to holding in your hand and eating. I mean shape-wise they do.

Would there be say a kind of um er ah raspberry sauce to dip it in? I mean good chocolate and raspberry are a match made in heaven.

I know what you're all thinking, don't go there...

Raspberry Stigmata might be a pretty good name for a band.

A year or two ago, Cosimo Cavallaro created a 200 pound, 6-foot tall milk chocolate sculpture of a nude, anatomically correct Jesus Christ.

It generated considerable controversy (and media coverage) at the time, but, to the best of my knowledge, was not labeled for retail sale.

glimmertwinfan: the strands of pretend easter grass are meant to resupply the house with litter, just as the last few strands of Christmas tinsel icicles get vacuumed up. At least, that's how it works in our house.
