Have you heard about "Earth Hour" when you turn your lights out?

Well apparently a well meaning Scio Township woman, Robin Kahler, is trying to get you to do just that, turn your lights out for an hour, the "Earth Hour".

Saturday, between the hours of 8-9 pm people are urged to turn off all unnecessary lights, and those at the Touchstone Cohousing, where the official event is taking place, will light candles and take a walk to look at the stars. There will be a potluck dinner preceding the "Earth Hour". The potluck will be held in the Touchstone community room at 560 Little Lake Drive. For more information go HERE.

While you are all looking up at the night sky see if you can't find the Andromeda Galaxy which is hurtling headlong towards our own Milky Way Galaxy and will collide with it in roughly 3 trillion years, really putting the ziggy on all these 'save the earth' programs.

If these cohousing folks have nothing better to do in the dark than look at stars, well, then...

Well-meaning, but a humble life lived in moderation doesn't need preachy advice from folks living in pricey cohousing units.

Lord knows they are well meaning but, yeah, well, yeah.

I detest ambient light as a backyard astronomer but turning off unneeded inside lights does me no good.
