Johnny's a long-time Eastern Michigan softball fan. The tournament win over Central Michigan was a great moment in EMU sports history. Oh Johnny actually tried out for the EMU baseball team at one time, made the first cut in fact and still loves a May evening or three at Oestrike Stadium but really really enjoys the view at Varsity Field in spring and the chanting and vim and vigor the gals have.
Home opener vs the Cleveland State Vikings at 2pm at Varsity Field. And Eastern Michigan fans, you not only get ONE game for a home opener, no, friend-o, you get TWO games (weather permitting and watch this space later where we tell you we're supposed to get 2 inches of snow Tuesday).
EMU is 7-12 and coming off a 12-4 beat down of Woodsy Owl (And at some point we'll stop telling you that means Bowling Green so write that down) Friday in Columbus, O.
Freshman Stacie Skodinski went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and a single and 3 RBI's.

Eh? Everyone knows that Woodsy Owl went to Temple. He studied theater there, before joining the worst-dressed off-off-off-off-off-off-Broadway production of Robin Hood, ever.
But beware, beware, the ferocious mighty drunken Bowling Green Falcons, uncontested rulers of the (former) Great Black Swamp, mighty neighbors of the national tractor pull championship, dominators (at home) over both corn *and* soybeans. Beware, lest cuddly Freddy or Frieda Falcon mutilate your beer right out of your hand with their sharp pointy talons!
Falcons? They shall perish in flames! Wood County beware!
Flames? You need trees for flames -- this is Wood County we're talking about -- there's no trees!
(I meant that.)
If you want flames, your best bet is to hope for a dry fall and torch the corn stubble.
