We want names and we want them NOW

This is not going to stand. If you have the names of the asshats who spray painted racial insults and slurs on an Obama billboard in Pittsfield Township near where Textile dead ends into US-23, your help is needed.

Obviously these wastes of human skin didn't realize the kind of heat they'd be bringing as the FBI and Secret Service are investigating. Police are also using tracking dogs at the scene. Michigan State Police were able to get tire tracks.

Give us their names, we'll turn them in. If Johnny will stand up to a mob in Cleveland Browns Stadium over utter crap like this you better believe he'll take action now.

Names. We want them. If you know them, do it anonymously.

I bet in 95% of the reports in newspapers I read that tracking dogs were used, they always end with "they lost the trail". This will probably be no different.

Just curious - if this would have been a photo of an african american sports figure or perhaps a white sports figure, do you think the FBI and Secret Service would be involved?

Don't get me wrong - I think this is a cowardly act and I hope those involved are caught and punished. I just think the government has better things to do with our tax dollars than hunt people down for their spray painting behavior.

I think it's a great use of police. String one of these assholes up as an example, show them the Federal laws on such antics. You can't let an entire race think the police have better things to do than track down people spray painting the words NIGGER and KKK all over.

Yeah, the dogs didn't turn up much I hear, but those tire tracks could be useful (and cost effective) in eliminating suspects.

As for an African American sports figure? I doubt it would have been done to say a Michael Jordan or Chauncey Billups or Gary Sheffield billboard. I really feel that way. I watched racists cheer Braylon Edwards in Cleveland on a touchdown while physically attacking an African American guy and his girlfriend I guess because they weren't athletes.

What if it was? Do you still think those should be hunted down with tax dollars?

I saw a stone fence with the word "cracker" on it. I'm offended. Where is the FBI investigating that?

This isn't Singapore.

Truthfully and honestly if it was done against one of them, yes, they should be hunted down. Yes at taxpayer expense. Hunted down and prosecuted. Scrawlings such as that diminish our community here. If we don't act, and unless wee get a brute squad that works for free, we need the police and FBI or Secret Service or whomever.

We cannot allow that to take hold or for anyone here to think it's funny or OK to make a political statement in such a way. Germany bends over backwards to not allow Nazi parties or sloganeering or graffiti. Did the KKK kill as many as the Nazis? NO, BUT it's the principle of HATE SPEECH.

It's telling a huge percentage of our community 'Don't get too comfortable'. It's not JUST addressed at Barack Obama. It's a powerplay lording over his supporters and African Americans here "Watch Your back". It's saying "All men are created equal", a bond of our Republic is null and void.

Sorry if I'm ranting glimmertwinfan, I'm just that way on this topic. Yeah, I do sincerely think this kind of thing needs to have it's ass kicked before it gets emboldened. Like the one guy I dragged over seats and down into the aisle at the ballgame who looked at me like "How could you do that?". I knew what it meant.

That's my opinion anyway. Not all level headed 'salt of the earth' ;) people are gonna agree.

Once again, I think we agree on more than we disagree on this point.

Again, this is cowardly and just plain wrong. They should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

But we can't even make it safe for people to walk around at night without be robbed or beaten up by thugs. And even when caught, the justice system is a joke. I don't think we can put this type of crime above others.

And I appreciate your opinion and view on how serious this crime is. But I can't help but wonder if that was a poor black or white child's milk-carton picture on that billboard with racial slurs painted, it wouldn't cause such a public outcry.

It's cool. I understand where you are coming from. I'm just a little more out there on it. Wise minds can differ and you're right, we do agree on almost all of it and what's most important.
