Obama administration adds a new member, Valerie Jarrett, U-M Law School grad

OK, so fall in Ann Arbor normally has everything to do with football but we here at YCD think we can cheer up the U-M community by pointing out that President-elect Barack Obama's newly named Senior White House Advisor is a former University of Michigan Law School grad. Valerie Jarrett is a 1981 grad.

Her position will be to consult with the president and act as a go-between with state and local elected officials and public interest groups. Another U-M Law School grad, Ann Coulter did not get asked by the Obama Administration to do anything but shut her pie hole.

And did anyone notice that Jennifer Grandholm is possibly being considered a LABOR position for the new administration??? HMM, that sounds like a GREAT idea since she has put Michigan in the position of having the HIGHEST unemployment rate in the Nation??

I think a Michigan 'friendly' in the Administration would be a help regardless of what happened here. I have also heard Jenny From the Block mentioned as a possible 2nd or 3rd Supreme Court justice position.

Now the RUMOR in Washington goes that Dennis Archer is a big Obama supporter has eyes on the Governor job. Obama can't act quickly in naming Granholm to a cabinet or Supreme Court position as it would give Lieutenant Governor John Cherry a lot of time AS Governor to run for reelection, something Archer doesn't want. So expect a Granholm appointment in a couple years closer to the next Michigan Governor's race...

I had heard that Archer was interested in the Gov's position and had done some studies. I think that he would be an AWESOME governor. He put Detroit in the right direction and it was sad when he wasn't appreciated and didn't run for re-election. I think he could do the same for the state.
