With the spate of delivery driver robberies lately...

...and with a lot of them happening in the same apartment complexes (yes we had another one today, a Jimmy John's driver was pistol whipped in the Tuscan Creek apartments), MAYBE it's time for all the food delivery places around town, in order to protect their employees, draws up a RED ZONE of complexes/buildings they simply won't go to, ANY of them. No Dominos, no Jimmy Johns, no Chinese food, no NOTHING until the people who run those places clean them up. If that means some troublemakers have to go sobeit. If people get mad enough about not getting food delivery, they'll complain to management.

We're tired of seeing delivery drivers have the crap kicked out of them doing their jobs. If they brought a gun with them they'd be fired. If they fight back and win, their company will be sued. It's time to help the HONEST people do their jobs.

Just something for some lawyer to file some sort of suit against.

I say let the delivery drivers carry weapons, or security guards with them and charge for it.

It's really sad when honest people can't do thier jobs without being assualted or robbed. If this was happening to IT professionals in their offices it'd be a hot topic. These delivery drivers, are sent out to whatever address calls in, mostly after dark and are sitting ducks.

I'm not for arming everyone, and glimmerttwin fan I know we disagree on that BUT short of sending them out with 'street sweepers' about the only thing you can do it cut off high crime apartment complexes.

Nobody WANTS to do that, 9/10 are paying customers who want pizza or a sammich, but to risk these delivery drivers lives in it's current capacity is just asking too much.

My bet is the person who was pistol whipped doesn't go back to his job and in some capacity we pay for it, unemployment, state counseling, perhaps disability pay, lawsuits against company passed along in food prices etc.

Good points. And with the current state of the economy, more people depend on these types of jobs than ever before.

What happened to the good old days where if someone got hurt at your hand, even by accident, you were consumed with guilt and wanted that person to get better? Ever hit the neighborhood kid with a wild pitch? Remember how terrible you felt? Nowadays people get pistol whipped for delivery money. Sad, sad, sad.

The way things are today your crazy if your not packing a weapon. As a single father I held off on getting a CCW because of the dangers of my child getting his hands on my loaded gun, but last year I took the precautions and made the move. Not sure I did the right thing, but I do feel safer.

its getting to the point that any person almost NEEDS to arm themselves and thats a very sad state of society.
I feel sorry for the delivery people TRYING to make an honest living only to be assaulted.
And Johnny is right, if it was happening to an Professional, MAYBE something would be done.
Unfortunately the Little Ceasars pizza delivery guy is suffering.

Ypsi Township is becoming a GIANT cesspool. Cut them off to deliveries.
