Combination of all of it. I tend to purchase more online, and my wife shops locally. However, this year, she has made some purchases online.

I loathe malls even when it isn't the Xmas season. I much prefer to sit back, research things at my own pace, and then make the purchase.

Depending on the type of item - I recently purchased a lcd tv locally just because I want a place to return it too if there are problems.

But as far as anything else "shippable", I prefer online. I almost purchased a car online a few years ago but my wife wouldn't let me. There is always next time. Face to face negotiations are and can be difficult and often lead to more impulse purchases. Online that is not the case.

I'm probably buying mostly gift cards this year or ordering online and having it shipped to northern Michigan to my sister's house. I use the excuse of having to wrap what I've shipped to get out of going to Christmas Eve mass!

I'm pretty much exclusively an online shopper anymore. I MAY go to Toys R Us for a small neice but that's it. Online is where it's at and I agree with you GTF, I HATE the mall during any season.

I still do pick up a couple things down on Main Street for the wife but I'm there all the time anyway so it's not like I'm GOING shopping.

Online for me: all the time I want to leisurely check things out without pressure and then a few mouseclicks and voila, my selections are shipped straight to my workplace so I can just take them home to wrap. E-Z.

Though I do like visiting unexpected places for gifts, like the Ypsi Food Co-op's little array of candles &c., or World of Rocks, for jewelry.

Like Glimmertwinfan I too loathe the mall and haven't been to one in years.
