EMU's bill for the failures in the Laura Dickinson case just came due

Eastern Michigan University was fined $357,500 by the U.S. Department of Education for violating a federal crime reporting law.

"We expected this, and we will accept the final outcome once we have completed the (appeal) process," Executive Vice President and Provost Don Loppnow said.

OK, it SUCKS, they did everything possible to deserve this fine, it's a shame parts of it can't be paid by former shamed DPS Director Cindy Hall, fired former EMU President John Fallon, and former EMU VP of Student Affairs Jim Vick, who all helped made this fine so possible.

Congrats all three of you, you really did bang up work in late '06 and '07.

Don't forget about the $2.5 million paid to the family, the $ to the research firm to find a new president, yada, yada yada.

Absolutley right glimmertwinfan. My guess is after all the pentalies and lawsuits and changes made on campus and the president search, the cost COULD be upwards of 4 million or so.
