Armed teens roving the Ann Arbor night
Amazingly, three teenagers, aged 14-17 were arrested for home invasions and having stolen property in the Platt Road/Champagne Drive area early this morning. A woman arriving home noticed her garage door had been kicked in and police did a search and found nothing. Later a man awoke to find three people in his bedroom and when they realized he was awake they fled into the early morning air. When police caught up with them they found LOADED GUNS and a knife on the utes. A police spokesman said their parents had yet to be contacted as of 7 am.
You better believe we'd notify the parents. We'd haul them into court to and ask them what THEIR problem is. 2:30 am and your 14 year old is running around with loaded weapons breaking into homes? It's our opinion these are not poor misunderstood kids who need a break. Far from that. It sure looks we were one panicked moment from a teenager with a gun from having a dead homeowner in Tree City last night.
Whatever their sentence may be perhaps the parents can help them with their mandated trash pick up along the highways.

Retrial of Orange Taylor III begins today
The retrial of Orange Taylor III, charged in the murder of EMU student Laura Dickinson in December of 2006, will begin in Washtenaw County court this morning. Taylor claims he is innocent of Dickinson's murder and the original trial ended with a hung jury as one juror held out for a not guilty verdict meaning a jury deadlock. Taylor will be represented by a public defender in this case, Laura Graham, not Alvin Keel as he was in the first trial.
We've got a pretty darn good idea what happened but in the interests of fairplay and respecting the justice system, we'll keep personal feelings and raw emotions in the comments section. We look forward to your commentary on this highly charged case.
We did find one quote in the Detroit News interesting. Previewing today's case they had a quote from Taylor's mother in which she finally remembers asking him if he was innocent, she doesn't remember his verbatim answer but recalls him saying "Mom, you know this is not me".
We would have just said YES.

Baseball is in the air. Johnny ran a few errands about town today and saw a dozen or so Tigers hats on the peoples.

Despite the temperatures, EMU baseball is hot hot hot
Even today, at Oestrike Stadium on a miserable day (Johnny drove by toying with the idea but had groceries in the car), when the Ypsilanti 9 beat Miami (O) (And Miami come back when you learn how to play baseball) 3-2 in 11 innings. What a day for a few innings of free baseball. Senior Jeff Davis sent the fans home happy knocking in the winning run.
EMU has won five in a row and took the weekend series in a sweep over Miami (O) by also winning both games yesterday. Eastern is 3-0 in the MAC and 5-17 overall.
EMU is at Cleveland State Tuesday and at MSU on Wednesday this week.

Nice article on body art in today's A2 News
Johnny has had a tattoo done in both Ann Arbor (Lucky Monkey) and in Ypsi (Ink for Life), what about you YCD readers, what are your thoughts on such things?
Here's the A2 News article on it. We especially like the part where they ask psychiatrists why people do such things LOL.

Michigan did earn their trip to the Frozen Four tonight with a 2-0 victory over Clarkson. The could have some familiar company as MSU is tied with Notre Dame in the second period 1-1.
