The possibility of 1000 workers being temporarily laid off grows with each hour the American Axle plant remains on strike. According to spokesperson Daphne Adams:
462 workers at Ypsilanti Transmission Operations, which makes six-speed transmissions, will be laid off. Portions of the Willow Run transmission plant will also be affected, as 521 tradesman and people who work on the 4L80 transmission and two converters will be laid off.
The layoffs would impact basically one third of the Willow Run workforce.

Then the Ann Arbor News has a contest for YOU! That's right the Ann Arbor News is having a diorama/peeps contest. You remember dioramas from school, shoeboxes that in a sad pathetic way show some piece of history or science tidbit.
Maybe you want to show Peeps in a boat crossing the Delaware with George Peep Washington, maybe you want to show Peeps landing on the Moon, or maybe you want to show intern peeps being brow beaten and having things thrown at them in a faux shoebox YCD office. The choice is yours and here now the rules and regulations:

So, a canoe livery wants a spot on the Huron River do they?
Those were the first community minded words into Johnny's head when he thought of his super secret fishing spot (should one exist) on the Huron River. Then he realized it was below his spot on the river they want to put it in so a HEARTY WELCOME to Nathan Hill and his Moby Dix Watersport Rental endeavor. NO WAY would Johnny and uh, other community minded fishermen, OK both of us, want them by our spot (should one exist).
Mr Hill wants to put in a canoe and kayak livery near Waterworks Park near Catherine and Spring streets. The City Council has been engaged, Mayor Paul Schreiber says council's behind it. Lois Richardson D-1 is on record in favor sooooo, let the zoning gods begin their tasks. Bring them their sacrifices and tokens and let's get a cool summer business underway.
By the way, for really big catfish in the Huron, ya can't beat minnows. That's what we heard.
