Back by popular demand (No, REALLY), the Ypsitucky Colonels live and local!
In case you missed them a week or so ago at the Corner Brewery, the Ypsitucky Colonels make their second local appearance in as many weeks, when they take over Club 23 this Saturday – the 14th. Club 23 is conveniently located at the corner of Willis and Carpenter Roads in beautiful Greater Milan. That's right ... just a hop, skip and drunk drive away from the Colonels’ natural, Ypsitucky habitat. The Colonels are busy polishing their Beatle boots in anticipation of a a rip-roarin’ three set show in Club 23’s friendly confines. Catch ’em soon, before they sell out to The Man and start playing disco-lite versions of their greatest hits.

The Corner Brewery tonight, the Colonels will be on stage from around 8:30 to 11:30 with what Colonel Will assures us will be a couple of awesome sets. Something about the water in Washtenaw County agrees with the Ypsitucky Colonels and their set lists.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the Ypsitucky Colonels, local and live
Okay, the charmingly yuppified confines of the Corner Brewery might not evoke the true spirit of the northward migration of Kentuckians that resulted in the original concept of “Ypsitucky.” We admit that. But we’re not here for a history lesson, either, so let’s not get all hung up on semantics, shall we?
The fact remains that spotting the Ypsitucky Colonels in their native habitat is an all-too-rare event and one worth mentioning. So, to recap:

What a show by the Ypsitucky Colonels last night! Riots afterwards
Just have a look see at this video taken outside the Lager House Tavern in Detroit last night. You can't BUY publicity like this. The Colonels whipped the kids into a frenzy and then they all had to meet outside and show how much they enjoyed the show with ancient tribal rituals.

The Ypsitucky Colonels make their Motor City debut this Friday, April 4, at that most-venerable of hipster havens, the Lager House tavern. Come thrill to the pub-rock stylings of the Colonels, while knocking can after can after can of ice-cold Stroh’s and chasing them down with shots of Old Crow. That’s right kids, the Colonels chase their cheap beer with cheaper whiskey.
That’s just how we roll.
The Lager House is located on Michigan Avenue, just a stone’s throw east of the old Tiger Stadium in the fashionable, yet still quaintly dangerous, Corktown neighborhood.

It's a Friday Night Happy Hour BITCHSLAP with The Ypsitucky Colonels!
Col. Will reports that he's so pilled up on cold-eze that he rattles when he walks.
But that's only to ensure that he's hale and hardy when the Ypsitucky Colonels turn up the garage country soul at the Heidelberg's Club Above Friday night. Col. Will reports that he and his cohorts have been woodshedding a bunch of new tunes for the Happy Hour gig -- 5:30 to 8:ish -- in addition to their usual collection of cool power-pop, revved-up classic country and maudlin AM one-hit wonders. There will even be an original tune or two! Best part? It's only $2 and you can be home in time for "Simon and Simon" reruns.

Post Turkey Day Circle Jerk with the Ypsitucky Colonels
Those lovable ragamuffins, Ypsitucky Colonels, are at it again.
The Colonels will share the Happy Hour stage with the Nuke-a-billies at the Heidelberg’s Club Above this Friday from 6-8 p.m.
In the Nuke-a-billies, Corndaddy guitarist Kevin Brown rejoins his old band mate, Steve Newhouse, for a rollicking collection of truck-driving songs and classic country standards that recall those halcyon days at Mr. Flood’s. The Ypsitucky Colonels set the house ablaze with a hip-shakin,' boot-scootin,' belly-rubbin,' buns-cuppin' mix of garage, country, power-pop … and more AM radio hits than a K-Tel record. Guaranteed.*
The ‘Billies hit first, at 6, followed by the Colonels at 7. In other words, you can get all shit-faced and still get home in time for “Don’t Forget the Lyrics.”
So ... it's a win-win proposition and a perfect way to wind down after the Turkey Day festivities. Drinks are strong, the beer is cold and the cover is only $2, cheap-ass! As always, free bourbon and balloons for the kids.

Hide the kids and wake the neighbors, the Ypsitucky Colonels are on the loose!
The Ypsitucky Colonels, will be rocking out some garage-y country, power pop and melancholy popular songs this Saturday at the Tap Room Annex in lovely downtown Ypsitucky. And it just gets better, because Paul’s Big Radio is opening the show! If you haven’t been to the Tap Room Annex, it’s a great little room with good food, cold beer and spirits, and Ypsi’s only shuffleboard table.
The Annex is at 201 W. Michigan Ave, between Washington and Adams Streets. Music will start at 10 sharp. Cover is $5. You can check out the Colonel's online You can check out the Colonels online at their MySpace page.
And for the morbidly curious, Colonel Will will be performing a short-but-oh-so-sweet solo-acoustic set during the Paul’s Big Radio show tonight at TC’s Speakeasy. It’s been a long time since he's even done an open mic, so this will be an adventure. But he's excited … and, being a consummate professional, he even rehearsed.
TC’s is located, conveniently, right next door to the Annex at 207 W. Michigan Ave. Colonel Will shall play between PBR sets, probably right around 11 p.m.

Ypsitucky Colonels at Dylanfest!
The Colonels will be joining a really stellar cast of performers at the Blind Pig this Saturday, Sept. 15, for the annual Dylanfest extravaganza. Nearly 30 performers will play their favorite Bob Dylan songs during what is always a really, really fun event.
We’ve worked up cool arrangements to songs that sort of bookend Bob Dylan’s career, choosing a rocked-up take on “Baby Let Me Follow You Down” from his first record and the sublime “Lovesick” from the relatively recent “Time Out of Mind” album.
Joining us as an honorary Colonel-For-A-Day will be Mark Oppat, who will be sitting in on drums for Adam, who had a prior commitment.
No hype here, folks: Dylanfest is one of the musical highlights of the year – and the proceeds benefit the Ecology Center’s Mary Beth Doyle Fund. A good cause and a great night of music.

Bob Dylan AND Elvis Costello to play EMU October 12
While not having the local chops of the Ypsitucky Colonels, relative unknowns Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello will be playing the ACC at Eastern Michigan University (What, is it Chris Webber appreciation night at Crisler?) on October 12.
Tickets will be on sale September 7th at all bend-over-and-take-it Ticketmaster outlets.
