OK, we've made it past Heritage Festival, and you know what that means...

FOOTBALL!

Do you have any expectations for EMU this fall? U-M? Both are intriguing story lines this fall. EMU is much improved and should be better than we've seen in eons, and U-M for the newness of things, the like of which we haven't seen for a generation.

Your thoughts?

Eastern Michigan football sounds like a better experience than University of Michigan because A) EMU sounds like BETTER team this year B) who wants to endure all the headaches at UM Stadium and take ALL DAY to see a football game?? C) also better value money-wise.

Of course Michigan will get all the press but the early story could just be EMU if they can beat Indiana State and Toledo (not hoping for much vs MSU). EMU has some holes to fill (and look for an EMU Football preview before too long) but yes, they do look stronger and more balanced than they have been in years.

The U-M stadium construction is an utter debacle. Inconveniencing your fans and for what really? More seating so U-M can make more money? They had 100+ thousand seats.

I can't wait for that EMU Thursday night game next week!

From the multiple college football preview magazines and websites that I have researched, the Eagles are picked to be one of the worst teams in the MAC this year. I really hope all the experts are wrong. Jeff Genyk has had ample time to put his system into place. GO EAGLES!!

I thought I heard that EMU football tickets are around 45 dollars. they better be good for that money. Anyway, I've been to the Big House and Rynearson and still prefer to grill out, have some brews and watch on the tube AT HOME.

Yes, I saw something that said 45$ for season tickets.

As for the publications, I don't know what to believe with those things. I WANT to think they really do make an attempt at covering smaller schools and not just saying "Well team X lost 5 starters on defense, they were third last year so we'll say fourth this year".

On the other hand the MAC presser had us down the list.

TRUTHFULLY, I think EMU is a victim (of their own making mind you) of well lowered expectations since they've been so shitty for so long. I'm hoping against hope they're better. It's an AWFUL thing to look for Eastern in the entire NCAA rankings and finding them at 111 out of 120. ALTHOUGH, EMU did rate #93 in the CBS Sports 1-120 rankings, ahead of Minnesota, NIU, Syracuse, Army, Baylor, Iowa State and Marshall. Only TWO slots behind......Notre Dame.

God what I wouldn't give for a 6-5 record this year!!

Amen, brother. I am so ready for a winning Eastern Football team.

Eastern beat Western and Central last year. WMU and CMU are predicted to compete for for the MAC West title. Why not Eastern?

Anonymous, good point, if they can beat WMU and CMU why can't they compete since EMU is supposed to have the best team in years. It COULD be like I said nobody ever expects anything from Eastern football and nobody even tried to give a serious preview.

Genyk has shown he can beat the in-state rivals, if they can just stop losing games like they did on a missed extra point vs Ball State a couple years back, I think they really could surprise and challenge.

Yeah, that was great when EMU's best player and All-American kicker missed the extra point. Curses!@#%+$

It was such an UP moment when they scored late and then to miss the XP, I think I used some pretty foul language ion my way out of Rynearson that night my friend.

I'm wiling to bet this is the most anyone anywhere has discussed EMU football in a POSITIVE light in a while.

Something we haven't seen here since like 1990---EXPECTATIONS!
