Happy Independence Day from Ypsi City Desk

Ah, we've right kicked the British out so let's celebrate our independence and this ever evolving republic of ours with some MUSIC today shall we?

As you can tell, the ridiculous Michigan fireworks law is being set to 'ignore' once again this year should you stick your head out a window. Sounds nice, all that far off popping.

Truly sad to see The Consumerist website jump the shark today

Let this be a lesson dear readers, when a website such as the Consumerist starts telling you what you can and cannot say, especially on a site DEDICATED to product malfeasance, it has effectively jumped the shark. They spend a lot of time at the Consumerist trying to GET people involved in their stories with clever headlines and funny writing but now they have decided to control what readers can say.

"Comment on our stories, but in a way we see fit". F that

And that will NEVER happen here.

UPDATE: Now they've CANCELLED the Ypsi Township fireworks for tonight

Better luck next year we guess. They have reversed course from earlier today and CANCELLED the fireworks for tonight at Ford Lake. They will NOT be rescheduled this year.

Reader cmadler reminds us there IS a wonderful concert by the Ypsilanti Community Band July 15th in Riverside Park. The show is at 7:30pm.

Check HERE for details on the concert.

Let Johnny say what the Main Street Association is too polite to say--You smokers are utter PIGS

The The Main Street Area Association is having now to take GRANTS from 'Keep America Beautiful' to put in "Smoker's Outpost" cigarette butt receptacles and 1000 pocket ashtrays all because smokers are too self centered, too lazy and too piggy to stop throwing their butts on the ground, and in flower planters along Main Street

It's not JUST Main Street people, it's EVERYWHERE. Disgusting smokers (and we're NOT commenting on the ACT of smoking, no, it's your butt disposal system that needs work) have somehow come to think the ground is their ashtray. Watch the butts come flying out of car windows. Look if it's too disgusting to keep in your car's ashtray, don't pitch that shit out your window for the rest of us to deal with, you selfish jerks.

Johnny was waiting for a bus this winter and a man was sitting there smoking. When he got done he simply just threw his butt away on the ground. Johnny asked him to pick it up. He asked WHY, can you believe it WHY. Johnny told him it would be good for his health to comply. He did.

You smokers really need to get your collective heads out of your asses with where you put your butts. Again, smoke your brains out, that's YOUR decision, where you put your butts is OUR problem. We certainly hope citizens will now begin to actually call out dirty smokers throwing their garbage on the ground. SAY something to them. Let them know you saw their behavior and don't approve. Save the confrontations for the big guys like Johnny who can lift bales, but make sure they know they are on notice.

Radioactive man, the brick thief, now in custody

The guy who stole 5,000 pounds of bricks used to contain radiation in tests, has been caught and is housed in the Washtenaw County clink. Radioactive man was captured by police when he tried to sell the blue colored bricks to a scrap yard in Inkster.

The far more frightening aspect of this case is that the perp is a 43 year old Toledo, Ohio man. This means radioactive zombies are wandering Ohio and coming here to commit crimes.

You just can't trust Ohio radioactive zombies like you used to. Some even have high falutin TeeVee jobs where they harass furries with their radioactive hands...

Ypsilanti Township fireworks are ON for tonight

The washed out fireworks show in Ypsilanti Township are on for tonight, Thursday. Same bat time, same bat channel. It'll be clear as a bell tonight and perhaps even a little chilly. It should be around 60ยบ with a slight northeast wind when the shells start bursting over majestic Ford Lake.

An ark was seen floating by the Ypsi City Desk offices tonight. Looked like a monkey was driving.
