Friday night MULTIMEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA with PATSY CLINE!

Ah yes, the sweetest voice of all time. That is a pretty good debate to have, who is in Patsy's class as the creme de la creme of voices. k.d. Lang, Leeann Rimes, Annie Lennox and whomever you wanna tell us about. Here at the YCD offices we tossed around Aretha Franklin, Neko Case (and Kelly Hogan), Pat Benatar, Ann Wilson but for whatever reason they just didn't fit that Patsy mold. Here's Patsy Cline with the delicious 'Walkin' After Midnight'

Apparently Saline wants to RANDOMLY test students for drugs and alcohol at school events

Yeah, as in, hey you, come over here and pee for us.

WTF?! So you're sitting in the stands watching Saline high school play football and somebody on the 'gestapo school spirit squad' points up and says "Hey you, yeah, we're gonna need a urine sample". No need for suspicion of drinking or drugs, just random. Like when they pulled Al Gore out of an airplane line and made him strip in case he was carrying a bomb.

Go to a dance--pee in a cup
Go to a basketball game--pee in a cup
Go to a band recital--pee in a cup

What an excellent way to cut down on attendance at such events and force students back into somebody's basement or god forbid somebody's vehicle to drink or smoke some weed. Seems to us the recent problems with drinking have been the attitude and reaction of PARENTS in Saline, none of whom when contacted by the Saline po-po would cooperate with a drinking on school grounds investigation.

This idea is frightening.

Environmental nightmare landlord David Kircher is off to jail, and he's earned it

Slumlord/scumlord/horrible landlord David Kircher is today serving the first day of his 5 year sentence for dumping 100,000 gallons of raw sewage into a drain that leads to the Huron River. Nice. Kircher was dumping the raw sewage from the Eastern Highlands apartments off of LeForge Road directly into the Huron River. Lots of people like to fish and canoe in the Huron River so more than just the residents of Ypsilanti were affected by Kircher's disgusting actions.

Kircher, for the uninformed or newcomers to Ypsilanti, has racked up over 1000 building and fire code violations in his lengthy time as an Ypsilanti landlord.

Nobody deserves time in the clink like this asshole, trust us.

The kind of cold wet windy rainy night in Cool City that makes Fiji so popular...

Time for Ypsilanti, After Dark

Springsteen at Oestrike update

According to the Ann Arbor News some tickets (which are free) will be distributed at Obama campaign offices. Also the concert is expected to be 30-40 minutes long.

Gates open at 3, show at 4:30

Personally we see no reason for anybody from U-M or Ann Arbor to come to this since they wouldn't be caught dead next to Ypsilanti, Eastern Michigan or Rynearson Stadium for this spring's U-M graduation. I mean here's your chance to back up your snotty words with actions, U-M supporters. If it wasn't good enough for you then, well, you get the idea....

Update #2

As well as tickets being available at Obama offices, tickets will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis this FRIDAY. EMU students can obtain one ticket by showing a valid university ID. EMU ticket offices are located across campus; the general public should use the location at the EMU Convocation Center, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Some guy named Bruce Springsteen will be at Eastern Michigan's Oestrike Stadium on Monday--FOR FREE!

We don't know who this guy is, apparently he's in the music industry but he'll be performing a FREE concert for Presidential candidate Barack Obama. The gates are open at 3 pm and the performance (acoustic performance) will begin at 4:30ish. Now, before you run over there now, no ticket info has been announced. Yeah, it's free, but you'll need some kind of wristband or ticket we're guessing. This will PROBABLY be the best singing done in Oestrike Stadium since Johnny had the 7th inning stretch gig back in the early 90's.

Huh, guess the Boss had no use for Ann Arbor. Must not like hippes we suppose.
"tramps like us, baby we were born to play hacky sack and eat hippie hash at the Fleetwood...."

Ypsi is far more Bruce-y than Tree City anyhoo

Yes Virginia, they are having a Willow Run recall election

Washtenaw County Board of Election Commissioners voted 2-1 to allow the recall election of board President Claudette Braxton, Andy Blakita and Clifford Smith. No date has been set for the recall election date.

According to the Ann Arbor News:

"Election commissioners Darlene O'Brien, who is chief Probate Judge, and Larry Kestenbaum, the Washtenaw County Clerk, voted in favor of the language. Election Commissioner Catherine McClary, who is Washtenaw County treasurer, voted against the proposal."

The Ypsi City Desk proudly casts it's one vote for the new class at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for...

Wanda Jackson. Yes the Stooges are up, but we cast ours for Wanda. Let the fight begin....

That's no lady, that's a bankrobber!

We're all for equal pay for equal work here at the YCD, just ask intern Kiki who makes as little as intern Zoltron, but here's a woman who made a big score at the Ann Arbor TCF bank Tuesday by robbing the joint. The TCF at the corner of Stadium and Pauline was her withdrawal choice yesterday around 9:30 am where she presented a note but no weapon was seen.

Police describe her as 5-7" with blonde to light brown hair and a pink baseball cap (which if she were smart she'd be disposing of after reading the YCD). If you have information on the woman in this picture please call 734-996-3199.
